As a medical statistician she is specialized in research methodologies for evidence based medicine. Her expertise lies in clinical trials: design and conduct of clinical trials as well as a meta-analysis of clinical trials, and cost-effectiveness analysis alongside clinical trials. She also has a particular interest in methods for design and conduct of systematic reviews. She is currently taking the leadership of the Medical Statistics Division within the Medical Research Collaborating Center and her team is involved with various collaborative clinical researches and also research with the public health sectors.

Dr. Choi joined the SNU faculty in 2011. Formerly, she was a member of the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control in Roswell Park Cancer Institute in NY, USA until 2008 when she joined the faculty at Pharmacogenomic Research Center in Inje University. She is currently the assistant professor of College of Medicine. Dr. Choi graduated from Ewha Woman’s University College of Pharmacy and earned her PhD degree at Seoul National University in 2004. She is a molecular epidemiologist with background and expertise in the role of gene and environmental interaction associated with the etiology of cancer and the survival.
Research Interests:
- Molecular cancer epidemiology especially for hormone-related cancer
- Pharmacogenomic epidemiology
- Dynamic biomarkers to predict development of cancer and the treatment outcome

I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Health, University of Copenhagen in Denmark and an adjunct professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine, Seoul National University College of Medicine.
My principal area of interest is to estimate environmental effects on health using big data. I investigate the effects of air pollution, noise, and climate on cardiovascular diseases and psychiatric disorders in the population by linking the register-based health and historical exposure data. I am also involved in several cohort studies of children, women, and the elderly. I examine the effects of air pollution and endocrine disrupting chemicals on growth and neurocognitive development in children and cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases in women and the elderly. In addition, I am interested in the roles of the gene, DNA methylation, and microbiome on environmental health.
